Case Study 2 – Buckinghamshire New University
Background: The University wanted to review their communications with potential students and discover why people chose to study at Bucks, what was important to them and what went into the decision making process.
Marketing Objectives: To conduct a market research exercise at both existing campuses (High Wycombe and Uxbridge) questioning visitors to the Open Days.
What EMS did:
- Created carefully worded questionnaires for both prospective students and their parents or carers.
- Attended the Open Days and interviewed as many visitors as possible.
- Collated all the responses and presented the results of the Market Research exercises.
The University marketing department now has an up-to-date data-driven direction for how to proceed in their communications with students and their parents/carers in the future to help provide relevant and timely information at key points in their application process.

Case Study 3 – Vistage UK Ltd
Background: This coaching and mentoring organisation for MDs, executives and business owners publishes a quarterly thought leadership report for their members on subjects that are of interest and benefit to business leaders. They had tried outsourcing the report compilation to two other companies before coming to EMS with a very tight deadline.
Objectives: To research and write an in-depth report on Wellbeing including interviewing several Vistage members involved with Wellbeing.
What EMS did:
- Researched seven in-depth articles on different aspects of Wellbeing and business considerations.
- Conducted eight telephone interviews for additional material and case studies.
- Wrote up all the articles and case studies.
- Sourced images to illustrate articles.
- Liaised with the designer including proof reading final version and printer’s proof.
- Subsequently created blogs and Slideshare decks for use on social media channels.
- Delivery of a 32 page professionally produced thought leadership document.
